I decided to actually document the process of a woodworking project. Figured I should give some proof that I actually do what I say I do.
Unfortunately, I forgot to document much of this project. (The best laid plans of mice and all that). I've got pictures of the rough-cut boards drying and the finished project and that's about it. Here they are:
This project was probably the smoothest woodworking experience I've had so far. I had already made a small, wall hanging, 2 shelf bookshelf for my wife a few years ago, so this was largely just a reiteration of that. I recently got a copy of "Joined: A Bench Guide to Furniture Joinery" by Joshua Klein and that was invaluable. Sure, I'd watched the YouTube videos on how to cut the joints in this build, but little things like how to clean up dovetails had never been completely clear to me.
I deeply enjoyed this project, hopefully the customer likes it just as much. My next big project is a little up in the air at the moment. I want to Build a Chair from Bullshit this year, but I'm also really jazzed up about the idea of building a new workbench (one that's actually standing height! Wow!). Maybe I can build both, I'm not sure.
